Google's Free App Will Find Portraits in Museums That Look Just Like You
![]() In case you missed it, a tweet recently went viral for sharing undeniably awesome photos of people who found their museum artwork twins. The Google Arts & Culture app was already an amazing free way to appreciate artwork around the world, allowing users to virtually explore more than 1,000 museums and search for art by category and artist. But now it's even more fun thanks to a "new and experimental" feature that lets you find your own museum lookalike. The app prompts you to take a selfie or a photo of a friend and upload it so its technology can almost instantly find people who look like you in historical artwork in its partner museums. Naturally, some GoodHousekeeping.com staffers had to try it. When Home Editor Lauren Smith uploaded a slightly smiling selfie, she found she bears a resemblance to an unknown artist's "Portrait of a Young Woman."And Social Media Editor Kayla Keegan doesn't quite know how to feel about being told she resembles Hans Hysing's portrait of John Dive. (Don't worry, Kayla, it's only a 38% match.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
