Turkish ambassador to Iran invited to Foreign Ministry over Fidan's statement
![]() The Turkish Ambassador to Tehran was invited to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where he was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Assistant Mahmoud Heidari. During the meeting, Heidari, touching upon the recent statements by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, stressed the need to avoid statements that damage bilateral relations. He also noted that the ongoing aggression and expansionist policies of the Israeli regime pose the greatest threat to stability and security in the region. In turn, Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Hijabi Karlankic reaffirmed his country's position on maintaining and expanding good-neighborly relations with Iran. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan earlier told Al Jazeera that Iran had “sacrificed great resources for its regional gains.” He said this foreign policy approach needed to change. “Although such a policy brings some results in the short term, in the long term and structural terms, it creates a great burden for both the Iranian system and the region,” Fidan said.
