Mexico hopes to reach agreement with US on tariffs
![]() Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed confidence that her government will be able to reach an agreement with the United States and prevent the introduction of import duties on Mexican goods. She said this during a working visit to the state of Sonora, commenting on a letter from US President Donald Trump, which talks about the introduction of 30% tariffs on imports from Mexico from August 1. "US tariffs on imports from Mexico have been announced for August 1, but we believe that, judging by yesterday's negotiations with our American colleagues, we will be able to agree with the US government and achieve better conditions. I have always said that in such situations it is important to keep a cool head in order to cope with any difficulties," Sheinbaum said, whose speech was broadcast on the social networks of the Mexican government. The head of state noted that the work of the Mexican-American bilateral group had already begun. |
