US, Bahrain discuss financial pressure on Iran
![]() U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held talks with Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, on the Economic Outcast operation, according to an official statement from the U.S. Treasury Department․ During the talks, Bessent stressed that Iran must not be allowed to threaten international trade or use the Strait of Hormuz as a tool to exert pressure on the global economy. He also emphasised the need to maintain financial pressure on key sectors of Iran’s economy and hold accountable those providing financial support to Tehran. The two sides agreed to continue close coordination between the United States, Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and international partners to combat illicit financial flows and strengthen economic security. |
