EU plans to provide Ukraine with €6 billion military aid package – Politico

The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with a military aid package worth at least 6 billion euros to strengthen Kyiv's strategic position amid ongoing negotiations between the United States and Russia.

This was reported by Politico, citing three EU diplomats, Censor.NET reports.

It is noted that the aid package, which will include 1.5 million artillery shells and air defense systems, will be one of the largest EU military aid packages since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

Its contents are likely to be made public ahead of a European Commission delegation's visit to Kyiv on February 24.

Two diplomats told Politico that €6 billion is a starting point that could rise to €10 billion or more. Countries will check their stockpiles and see what they can send to Ukraine.

EU foreign ministers are expected to consider the package during their next meeting in Brussels next week.

The publication writes that the EU countries will be able to join the package financially or with military equipment, and their contribution will be proportional to their gross national income.
