![]() At least 6 people have been killed after a car ploughed into a crowd at a carnival in Belgium. It is thought 12 others were critically injured and more than 20 others were injured at the smash in Strépy-Bracquegnies near La Louvière in the province of Hainaut at 5am. A suspect has been arrested, according to local media. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of this morning's tragedy - the Mirror UK reports. Mayor Jacques Gobert told RTBF radio: "A car drove from the back at high speed. We have a few dozen injured and unfortunately several people who are killed." He added that the local sports hall will be used as a victim's services centre for those who have been impacted by this morning's events. A resident told of the moment she heard the car speed past her house. Bel RTL host Fabrice Collignon told rtl.be : " We were picking up the Gilles, we were going from house to house. We were in a long straight line and there were more or less 150 people. We heard a noise huge coming from behind the company and the car literally drove into the group of people. "It's a scene I never thought I'd see in my life. The car accelerated and the time to realize that it was something was going on, everyone was on the ground. People were screaming. There was music and smiles and 3 seconds later, it was screaming. It was horrible". She told rtl.be : "This morning, I was in my bed. Just hearing the car go by, my house shook. "I won't tell you how my blood pressure rose… I quickly phoned my daughter to see if she would answer me and she answered me well telling me not to worry because they were on the side, unfortunately, others weren't so lucky..."
