President Donald Trump on Friday announced that a tentative deal has been reached to temporarily end the shutdown and reopen the government after 35 days, the longest in U.S. history. "[Congress] said they are for complete border security, and they have finally and fully acknowledged that having barriers, fencing or walls – or whatever you want to call it – will be an important part of the solution," the president said. He said if a deal is not reached by February 15, he will use executive actions to "address this emergency." |
