Heavy rain in central and southern Taiwan has caused flooding, killing at least 7 people and injuring 116 others. A low-pressure system brought downpours from Thursday through Sunday. The cities of Chiayi and Tainan saw more than 300 millimeters of rain. Some areas observed up to 900 millimeters. Authorities say a large area of land has been submerged, and the 7 victims include an elderly man. Weather officials warn it will continue to rain on Monday. |
