«We are pleased to announce the launch of a new international journal entitled «Etiuni–Urartu: Journal of Ancient Armenian Studies»»: Miqayel Badalyan

Dear friends,
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new international journal entitled “Etiuni–Urartu: Journal of Ancient Armenian Studies.” I have the honor of serving as the Editor-in-Chief of this journal, while the Deputy Editors-in-Chief are the highly respected scholars Dr. Roberto Dan Roberto Dan (Italy) and Dr. Walter Kuntner (Austria). The three of us will jointly bear primary responsibility for the journal.
We are also glad to note that “Etiuni–Urartu” has established both editorial and advisory boards, comprising distinguished researchers from various fields, representing Armenia, Italy, Austria, France, Poland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Georgia, Iran, and Moldova.
All expenses related to the preparation and publication of the journal will be covered by the HI-AM Charity Foundation (President: Nshan Adjemian).
How was this journal created? It was a long-held aspiration of mine, which I shared with my senior colleague, a kind person and benefactor, Hrant Tumasyan Hrant Tumasyan. He was greatly inspired by the idea and, in turn, informed the foundation. As a result, the funds necessary for the publication of the first two volumes were successfully raised. In this regard, we must especially acknowledge with gratitude the significant financial support of the Armenian-American professor Gagik Labadzyan and his late brother Harutyun Labaadzyn, as well as our compatriots residing in the United States—Hovhannes Karapetyan, Harutyun Brunuzian, Mushegh Muradyan, Gayane Stepanyan, Gagik Petrosian, Aneta Tumasyan, spouses Aram and Evelina Grigoryan. The names of all donors will be permanently acknowledged in every issue of the journal.
Well then, we wish ourselves a successful journey. Below you will find brief information about our journal; more detailed information will be provided soon.
ETIUNI–URARTU: Journal of Ancient Armenian Studies is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the study of the Armenian Highlands and neighboring regions, with a primary focus on the Late Bronze to the Late Iron Ages (16th–5/4th centuries BCE), while acknowledging the longer-term processes that shaped this period.
The journal particularly welcomes investigations that explore the relationship between local communities and major political entities, such as Etiuni and Urartu, in both their political and geographic dimensions, examining social, political, and cultural dynamics over time and their lasting impact on the development of the Armenian Highlands.
The journal publishes original research in the humanities and social sciences, including archaeology, history, linguistics, anthropology, archaeogenetics, and related disciplines. It addresses topics such as material culture, religion and mythology, and heritage studies, and also welcomes discussions based on field reports from ongoing excavations.
Published twice a year in English, with extended summaries in Armenian, ETIUNI–URARTU serves as a platform for scholarly exchange between Armenian and international researchers. It encourages high-quality contributions by early-career scholars, and collaborative, interdisciplinary research is especially welcomed.
