Zakharova: "Russia seeks full-fledged relations with Armenia"
![]() Commenting on the rumors circulating in Armenia about improving relations with the Russian Federation, in particular, the statement of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan that “we cannot constantly talk about tension and maintain tension in relations with the Russian Federation,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova pointed out the practical work being carried out between the two countries in various areas aimed at improving relations. “As neighboring countries, we have always had excellent relations with the Republic of Armenia, our contacts are not artificial, but natural, conditioned by geographical factors. Our position towards the Republic of Armenia is clear: the Russian Federation strives for comprehensive relations with Armenia and its people,” Zakharova noted. Regarding Alen Simonyan’s statement that he does not think that “the situation with the CSTO will be reviewed, the CSTO must review itself,” Zakharova noted the lack of an official position of the Armenian authorities on this issue, while emphasizing that Armenia must make its official stance known, both on the CSTO issue and on the EAEU-EU choice. “Membership in the EAEU and the EU is a mutually exclusive phenomenon,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted. |
