The State Duma (SPD) will demand the US Congress and the United Nations (UN) to investigate the statement of journalist Tucker Carlson about the plans of former US leader Joe Biden to make an assassination attempt on Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported in the press service of the lower house of Parliament on January 29.

It specified that at the plenary session of the State Duma, the head of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev proposed to appeal to American parliamentarians for clarification of Carlson's words.

The representative of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, in turn, emphasized that the situation requires a serious attitude and a thorough investigation. Moreover, it may be fraught with a global conflict, the politician said.

It is noted that the decision to send an appeal to the US Congress and the UN was supported by all political factions of the State Duma.

With the statement about the alleged US plans to assassinate Putin Carlson made the day before in an interview with Matt Taibi.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, when asked whether additional measures had been taken after Carlson's statement, noted that Russian security services are constantly taking all necessary measures to ensure public safety and the safety of persons who are under state protection.

On January 29, Peskov also pointed out that Carlson did not provide any evidence when speaking about Biden's plans to make an assassination attempt on the Russian president.
