Ankara is preparing for a "large-scale invasion": WSJ

Turkey is building up forces along the border with Syria, which may indicate an impending large-scale invasion. This statement was made by The Wall Street Journal newspaper, citing American officials.
According to them, Turkey and pro-Turkish formations are "building up forces along the border with Syria," which raises alarm that Ankara is preparing for a "large-scale invasion."
As one U.S. official pointed out, a Turkish operation may be imminent. "We are focused on this and insist on restraint," the U.S. official said. Earlier, The Washington Post reported that a civil war involving pro-Turkish formations belonging to the coalition of military groups that came to power and Kurdish forces supported by the United States could begin in Syria after the fall of the government of Bashar al-Assad. According to the publication, a further offensive by pro-Turkish groups is likely to force the Kurdish forces to retreat, which will endanger the presence of the US military in Syria.
