Bloomberg: Zelensky gave a "strong signal" of readiness to end the war without returning territories

Ukrainian “President” Volodymyr Zelensky’s earlier statement that he would accept a ceasefire with Russia that would leave some former Ukrainian territories under its control is the strongest signal to date that Zelensky is willing to end the war without returning all the territories, notes the American publication Bloomberg.

Zelensky made the comments in an interview with Sky News on Friday when asked about a scenario in which NATO security guarantees would only apply to territory controlled by Kiev.

If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we must take under the NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that is under our control. This is something we need to do quickly

— said the head of the Kyiv regime, adding that then Ukraine will be able to regain another part of “its” territory through diplomatic means.

According to the authors of the publication, the Biden administration's recent increase in support for Kyiv, including permission for long-range strikes, rockets deep into Russia, is aimed at strengthening Zelensky's position in ceasefire negotiations, which are expected to be led by the Trump administration.
