Media Found out the Details of US Sanctions Against Nord Stream 2

The restrictions on the Nord Stream-2 project, which the US Senate plans to include in the military budget, will affect the various companies involved in the construction of the pipeline, reports the German edition of Bild, citing its sources and speaking at a safety conference in Halifax, the head of the Senate Jim Rich Committee on Foreign Affairs.

In particular, under the rules that will limit the access of European companies to the American market, Swiss Allseas, which specializes in laying pipes and cables under water, may fall. Bild points out that several German companies that work with Gazprom are at risk. The publication adds that restrictions may be introduced before Catholic Christmas.

Defense News reported on such plans in late November, citing the same Rish. The latter explained that the provision on sanctions against companies participating in Nord Stream-2 would be added to the bill on the US military budget because there was no time to prepare a separate sanctions document, given the fact that the pipeline was likely to be completed in the next few months.

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with a planned capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas will pass along the bottom of the Baltic Sea through the territories of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
