Mueller Statement Pressures Democrats to Move on Impeachment
![]() WITH PRESSURE MOUNTING to begin impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, the House's top investigator of the president Wednesday called Trump a liar and said impeachment is a possibility. "The special counsel has clearly demonstrated that President Trump is lying" by saying he was cleared of wrongdoing in Robert Mueller's report, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Democrat of New York, told reporters hours after Mueller gave brief remarks closing out his term as special counsel. "It falls on Congress to respond to the crimes, lies and other wrongdoing of President Trump. We will do so. No one, not even the president of the United States, is above the law," Nadler added. Asked directly if the House would move to impeach Trump – something House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, has warned is problematic and divisive – Nadler said, "All options are on the table. ... Nothing should be ruled out." |
