Mark Zuckerberg says he won't step down as Facebook chairman

Mark Zuckerberg said he will keep his role as chairman of Facebook's board in an interview with CNN that aired Tuesday night.

During the CNN interview Tuesday, Zuckerberg was asked whether or not he would step down as chairman of Facebook's board following the latest disclosure of scandals within the company. Zuckerberg has voting control over the board, meaning he would have to voluntarily step down from his role.

"I'm not currently thinking that that makes sense," Zuckerberg told CNN.

Zuckerberg also praised Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg when asked if she would keep her job following a series of scandals at the company. He praised her work at the company over the last several years, adding that he hopes the two would be able to work together for several more years.

"Sheryl is a really important part of this company, and is leading a lot of the efforts to address... the biggest issues that we have," Zuckerberg said. "And she's been an important partner for me for 10 years. And I'm really proud of the work we've done together, and I hope that we work together for decades more to come."
