Forty people were killed and more than 120 injured in four days of carnival in Bolivia

Forty people were killed and 124 were injured since the beginning of the largest national carnival in Bolivia on Saturday. It is reported by UNN with reference to the Peruvian Andina news Agency.

“We have 40 dead. Unfortunately, despite the control, the number of deaths and injuries during the carnival large”, – quotes words of the Minister of internal Affairs of Bolivia Carlos Romero, a Peruvian Agency.

According to the Minister, 40 dead 16 were victims of the accident, eight died in the explosion of a gas cylinder in the city of Oruro on Saturday. Of the 124 victims, said Romero, 51 people also got injured in the same incident with a gas tank.

The carnival of Oruro, which is included in the UNESCO List of intangible heritage in 2001, is the most famous and colorful in Bolivia. In 2017, according to the Ministry of culture and tourism of the Republic, the celebration was visited by 412 thousand Persons.
