Trump: Might ask Turkey to join response in Yemen
![]() United States President Donald Trump spoke to journalists in front of the White House on Tuesday, revealing that he "might" ask Turkey to join the response in Yemen. "I might do it. He [Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan] is a great friend of mine, as you know. I might do that. I have a lot of respect for the president of Turkey. I think [Erdogan] would do as I ask," Trump remarked. Earlier, the US head of state said that the Houthis are behaving "very badly." Meanwhile, Erdogan previously vowed to stand by Saudi Arabia amid the militant group's attacks. Nonetheless, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan shared that Ankara has no plans to send its troops to Saudi Arabia and attack Yemen from there, insisting that if there is a military deployment, it will only be defensive in nature. |
