Trump announces 'energy ceasefire' between Ukraine and Russia
![]() An energy ceasefire agreed upon by both sides took effect between Ukraine and Russia on October 11, US President Donald Trump stated in a post on Truth Social. He did not specify when Kyiv and Moscow reached an agreement on the matter. It is also worth noting that neither Ukraine nor Russia has officially confirmed Trump's statement so far. By the way, on September 14, 2026, the US president had already claimed that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to stop striking each other's energy facilities. "Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian energy targets. Russia has agreed to do likewise!" he said. However, as is known, no energy truce was reached. Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained when Ukraine could halt strikes on Russian oil refineries. The Ukrainian leader's remarks came after Trump once again accused him of being unwilling to make a deal and praised Russian leader Vladimir Putin for reaching a diesel fuel agreement.
