Romania Expels Russian Diplomat After Drone Incursions
![]() Romania has expelled a member of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest in response to the repeated incursions of Russian drones into Romanian territory, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced on Monday. According to the ministry, the Russian diplomat has been declared persona non grata and is required to leave Romania within five days. Russian Ambassador to Romania was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, where he was formally notified of the decision. At the same time, Romania’s ambassador to Moscow will be called to the country for consultations. “On the instructions of Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Țoiu, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest was summoned to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, July 27, 2026.
