UAE farmer donates 200 flame trees to Dubai Municipality

An Emirati farmer has contributed to Dubai’s sustainability drive by donating 200 flame trees to support the emirate’s ongoing urban greening efforts. The initiative was made by Ahmed Al Hafeiti, owner of Wadi Dafta plantation, who responded to a call from authorities to expand tree planting across the city.

The donation aligns with broader environmental goals set under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aimed at increasing green spaces and improving urban landscapes across Dubai.

Al Hafeiti shared that the idea came from a personal sense of responsibility to contribute to the country’s development. He noted that flame trees are well suited to the UAE climate, offering both shade and vibrant seasonal colour that enhances city streets.

Unlike typical sapling donations, the trees provided are mature specimens, some reaching up to six meters in height. The farmer also mentioned that over 500 trees are available in his plantation, with selection and transportation already in progress in coordination with Dubai Municipality.

The initiative reflects growing community participation in environmental projects, as residents and businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, UAQ, and Fujairah increasingly support sustainability efforts.
