US ambassador says 4 key documents on table in Ukraine talks
![]() US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that four documents are currently being discussed in the negotiations regarding Ukraine. Washington, for its part, is trying to understand the maximum concessions Russia is willing to make to end the war, according to its interview with Fox News. “I think there’s a good chance we will. I think there’s a good chance we won't. The missing part here, of course, is any indication from Russia that they're onboard with any of the things being discussed in Miami,” Vance said. Commenting on this, Whitaker said that the parties are currently closer to peace than ever. However, the ball is truly on Russia’s side. According to the US Ambassador to NATO, there are currently four documents on the table being discussed in real time. “This is a 20-point peace plan, together with a sort of multilateral security guarantees, ths US specific security guarantees, and the post-peace economic growth in the prosperity plan,” Whitaker said. He added that Washington now clearly understands what Ukraine wants. At the same time, the US is trying to understand the maximum concessions Russia is willing to make. “I mean, they keep sending these massive strikes overnight against Ukraine. I mean, that speaks for itself to some extent,” the ambassador said. He emphasized that Russia is the only party that has not expressed concern about its losses. Whitaker also said that US President Donald Trump is the only one who, as the main peacemaker, can bring both sides to the negotiation table and see if he can reach an agreement. “What President Trump is really good at is even through all the chaos, and death, and descruction that we're seeing on the battlefield, he is still willing to see a peace deal through, and see if there is a possibility. And I think we should really hope into the Christmas season and we all celebrate with our families, we have to pray for peace,” Whitaker concluded. US peace plan The most difficult issue is territorial, as the US proposes that Ukraine withdraw its troops from Donbas, which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly rejected. The head of state has said that a fair option for starting a ceasefire could be to fix the current front line. Zelenskyy has also stated that Ukraine and the US have not yet discussed the duration of security guarantees. As is known, the president demands that this document be approved by the US Congress. |
