40 killed in attack on refugee camp in Sudan

At least 40 people have been killed in a raid by the Rapid Response Force on the Abu Shuq refugee camp near El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state in Sudan, The Associated Press reported.

According to the source, there were about 450,000 displaced people in the camp.

Recently, photos have emerged showing how the Sudanese army is blocking the roads of people trying to leave El Fasher.

El Fasher is located more than 800 km southwest of the Sudanese capital Khartoum. The city is the last major stronghold of the Sudanese armed forces in Darfur, which the Sudanese army has been trying to capture for about a year.

The conflict in Sudan between the country's armed forces and the Sudanese army has been ongoing since April 15, 2023. More than 14 million people have been displaced. Currently, the military controls the north and east of Sudan, including Khartoum, while the Sudanese Armed Forces control the south of the country and almost the entire Darfur region.
