![]() The Azerbaijani news agency Minval has started using the place names “Konigsberg” (now Kaliningrad) and “Orinbor” (now Orenburg) on Telegram after a scandal erupted over an article by the Russian news agency TASS, which used the place name “Stepanakert.” “The editorial staff will use the historical place names of the Russian Federation until Moscow understands that there are no such concepts as “Stepanakert” or “Nagorno-Karabakh,” the news agency noted. The previous day, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on TASS to apologize for publishing information about the demolition of a monument to the sea painter Ivan Aivazovsky under the headline “Aivazovsky’s monument demolished in Stepanakert.” TASS later edited the article. |
