"Malta will recognize the state of Palestine": Prime Minister

Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abel announced on his Facebook page that his country will officially recognize the State of Palestine during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, which will take place in September 2025.

According to him, the recognition aims to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and is a step towards the resumption of negotiations, based on international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

In addition, 9 more countries have announced their intention to take such a step: Andorra, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, San Marino and Finland.

It is noted that 12 of the 27 EU countries have already recognized the State of Palestine.

Earlier, France and the United Kingdom announced their intention to recognize Palestine.
