Zakharova: "Some forces do not like the strategic alliance between Moscow and Baku"
![]() Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are of a strategic alliance nature, and there are forces that do not like this. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. “We must remember that relations between Moscow and Baku are of a strategic alliance nature. Of course, there are forces that do not like this,” Zakharova said. According to her, Russian-Azerbaijani relations contain a deep meaning. “This is a historical period of our commonality, when we were part of a common state. This is a deep history of our interaction, of contacts between people, of historical challenges that we have faced,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added. “Such an alliance causes hostility and a desire to interfere in the lives of certain forces. We must not allow this to happen. In interaction with any topic, there are problematic issues, be it international relations or personal life. The question is how to resolve them. Of course, we must proceed from the need to resolve these issues in accordance with the status of our relations,” the diplomat said. Earlier, events with the participation of Russia were canceled in Azerbaijan, Russian journalists Igor Kartavikh and Yevgeny Belousov, as well as eight other Russian citizens, were arrested and detained for four months. Azerbaijan and Russia exchanged notes of protest, and ambassadors were summoned to the Foreign Ministry. |
