“Moscow is closely following the developments in Armenia, including around the Armenian Apostolic Church and its spiritual center in Etchmiadzin,” the diplomatic department noted.

“We are not in the habit of interfering in the internal affairs of other states. We are sincerely interested in maintaining stability, ensuring the rule of law and sustainable development in friendly and fraternal Armenia. For this, it is necessary to put into practice the commitment to democratic values, respect for the feelings of believers and the principles of religious freedom, which have been proclaimed by the leadership of Armenia.”
