Erdogan and Pezeshkian had a phone conversation

Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeschkian. During the call, the Turkish leader said that Israel's attacks "are aimed at drawing the entire region into the fire." According to Erdogan, Israel is also trying to "distract the world's attention from the situation in the Gaza Strip and sabotage the nuclear talks."

Earlier, Erdogan also held phone talks with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt. In a conversation with his counterparts, he called Israel the biggest threat to "the stability and security of the Middle East.

"The Turkish leader also said that a new Iran-Israel war "could cause waves of illegal migration to all countries in the region and that the nuclear issue can only be resolved through continued negotiations."
