Activists in Paris stole Macron's wax statue and took it to the Russian embassy

A statue of President Emmanuel Macron was stolen from the Grevin wax museum in Paris, BFMTV reports. The television company's museum confirmed the theft.

People who identified themselves as Greenpeace activists claimed responsibility for the theft, AFP reports, citing a police source. The sculpture was later brought to the Russian embassy, ​​where it was used in a protest against the purchase of Russian gas and fertilizers.

According to BFMTV, on the morning of June 2, the suspects - two men and two women - entered the Grevin museum under the guise of ordinary visitors. In the building, they changed into work clothes and, posing as museum employees, took the Macron statue worth 40 thousand euros, covered it up and took it out through the service entrance.

As Greenpeace France CEO Jean-François Julliard explained, Macron supports Ukraine, while calling on French businesses to continue trading with Russia and purchase Russian fertilizers and gas. Activists believe that Macron should seek to end commercial relations between European countries and Russia.

Greenpeace later stated that the sculpture was not stolen, but borrowed for a while.
