"Iran is ready to never produce nuclear weapons in exchange for lifting US sanctions" - Khamenei's advisor
![]() Iran is ready to never produce nuclear weapons if US sanctions are lifted, NBC reported, citing Ali Shamkhani, the chief political adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Shamkhani told the channel that Iran is ready to commit to never producing nuclear weapons and to get rid of its highly enriched uranium stockpiles, which can be used as a raw material for nuclear weapons, if the US immediately lifts all economic sanctions against Tehran. The Iranian side is also ready to agree as part of the deal that uranium will be enriched only to the level necessary for peaceful purposes and to allow international inspectors to monitor this process. Asked whether Iran is ready to sign the agreement today if its conditions are met, Shamkhani replied, "yes." Indirect negotiations between the US and Iran have been ongoing since April, with four meetings already held in different locations. After the latest round, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the country could limit the level or volume of uranium enrichment, but would not completely abandon the technology. No significant progress was made in previous talks, and Washington has expanded sanctions against Tehran in this context. |
