Knut Rauf: "The trial in Baku is a sham process"
![]() Representatives of the Artsakh People’s Rights Protection Council received Knut Rauf, a representative of a German human rights organization, in a tent on Freedom Square on April 21. “We are an international organization engaged in the protection of the rights of individuals displaced by conflicts and as a result of them. We are in Armenia to get acquainted with the situation of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and their demands. Unfortunately, for political and other reasons, the international community is not sufficiently informed about this conflict, and this is unacceptable, since severe human rights violations and war crimes occurred during the forced displacement of the population from Nagorno-Karabakh a year and a half ago. According to international humanitarian law, those responsible for these violations must be held accountable, and our goal is to achieve this. As for the Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku, if a trial is held against them, it must comply with the Geneva Convention and the norms of international law. As far as I am aware, the trial underway in Baku is a sham trial, which is also unacceptable," Rauf told reporters. |
