![]() The United States and Iran are discussing an agreement that would allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to maintain its ability to develop peaceful nuclear energy. The negotiations should ensure that Iran stops developing nuclear weapons and that sanctions against Iran are lifted, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said. “The parties agreed to move to the next stage of negotiations aimed at concluding a fair, lasting and binding agreement that will ensure Iran’s complete abandonment of nuclear weapons while maintaining its ability to develop peaceful nuclear energy,” the Omani Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The second round of talks between Iran and the United States took place in Rome, mediated by Oman. The talks focused on the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. |
