![]() The UN calls for maximum restraint and the cessation of all military operations in Yemen. This was stated on March 16 in a statement distributed to journalists by the official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric. "Any new escalation could exacerbate regional tensions, provoke cycles of retaliation that could further destabilize Yemen and the region, as well as pose a serious threat to the already dire humanitarian situation in the country," Al Jazeera TV channel quoted him as saying. In addition, according to Dujarric, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also called for maximum restraint and an end to all military operations in Yemen. On March 15, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces announced the start of a large-scale operation in Yemen. The Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement, in turn, stressed that the American airstrikes would not go unanswered.
