Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Türkiye announce joint operation against ISIS with Syria
![]() Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey, together with Syria, have agreed to fight against the Islamic State, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said during a press conference in Amman, where a ministerial meeting of Syria's neighboring countries was held, Al Hadath and Al Jazeera reported. Al-Safadi said the goal of the meeting was "supporting brothers in Syria for the sake of stability and victory over terrorism." According to him, instability in one of the states leads to instability in the region as a whole. "We support Syria in its efforts to restore and oppose any attempts to destabilize its security and stability," the Jordanian Foreign Minister said. "We continue to fight ISIS, and at our meeting a plan was developed that includes the creation of a joint operational headquarters to combat terrorism," Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. Syrian Foreign Minister Asad Hassan al-Shibani said that the new authorities of the republic protect all its residents and will not allow discrimination or a repeat of past tragedies. He emphasized Damascus's readiness to work together to restore the country and welcomed the support of his colleagues. The meeting participants also called for the lifting of sanctions against Damascus. |
