![]() French judicial authorities on Aug. 25 extended the detention of Pavel Durov, the Russian-born founder of Telegram, following his arrest over alleged offenses linked to the messaging app. Durov, 39, was detained at Le Bourget airport on Aug. 24, marking a dramatic development in the career of one of the world's most prominent tech figures. The extension of Durov's detention, which could last up to 96 hours, was ordered by the investigating magistrate overseeing the case, according to a source familiar with the investigation, the Guardian reports. Once this phase concludes, the judge will determine whether to release him or press charges and extend his custody. |
