Latvia sends fines for congratulations on May 9

Residents of Latvia began to receive fines for publishing congratulatory posts in honor of May 9th. Restrictions also affected those who liked the post.
“People are brought to administrative responsibility for congratulatory posts on social networks. They refused to comment on the number of violators and the amount of fines, ”the comment of the state police of Latvia reports RT. It is noted that fines began to come even to those who liked the publication. According to the Baltic news network Delfi, fines can reach up to 350 euros.

In April, the Latvian Parliament adopted an urgent law banning public events in the country on May 9th. Citizens were forbidden to participate in rallies and marches. Previously, Latvia was part of the USSR. In those days, the Victory Day was celebrated in the republic.
