Macron, Merkel ready to offer Navalny asylum, medical help
![]() French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said their countries are ready to provide treatment and assistance to politician Alexei Navalny. They spoke about this at a joint press conference. “We are ready to offer all the necessary assistance to Alexei Navalny and his relatives regarding health, shelter and protection,” said Macron. Navalny’s associates turned to the Kremlin for help to obtain permission to transport him to a clinic abroad – previously, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov promised to assist them in this in case of such a request. The doctors of the hospital in Omsk, where Navalny is now, do not give permission for his transportation, explaining this by the severity of his condition. The politician’s associates believe that this is done in order to make it impossible to determine the toxin with which he was poisoned. |
