Pompeo commented on negotiations with Lavrov

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo commented on talks held in Finland with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“It was a good conversation. We discussed a wide range of issues ... ”, he said.

Pompeo also noted the mutual desire of Russia and the United States to begin a search for ways in which Moscow and Washington could “make real progress on issues where the interests of the parties coincide.”

Earlier, Lavrov called the meeting with Pompeo constructive.

It was noted that negotiations took place on the margins of the Arctic Council’s ministerial session in Rovaniemi, Finland.
