![]() The government in Skopje says the country is now officially renamed North Macedonia, under an agreement to normalize relations with Greece that also allows the Balkan country to enter NATO. A government press release says as of Tuesday, the country is officially called the Republic of North Macedonia. A government official said the decision would be published in the government gazette later Tuesday. As of Wednesday, the official said, the new name will be incorporated in official road signs – starting with one on the border with Greece. The official spoke on customary condition of anonymity. The name change resolves a dispute with neighboring Greece that has gone back decades. |
