13 people have passed away from swine flue this winter in Georgia. Patients admitted to hospital have been quarantined from visitors. H1N1, also known as swine flu, has been confirmed in 158 cases by lab tests – 13 of them fatal. H1N1 is a subtype of the Influenza A virus. In most cases, the disease proceeds like normal flu without complications and the patient recovers in about a week. Those with chronic illnesses are especially at risk. The Georgian Ministry of Health has issued an advisory warning to seek medical aid if symptoms are noted. |
