Mbappé, target of a kidnap plot in France, says Le Parisien

Kylian Mbappé was among the 26 people that an 18-year-old and his circle are believed to have considered as possible kidnapping targets. The news was first reported this Wednesday by Le Parisien.

The alleged ringleader, identified as Clément L. (alias "Lester Z"), was charged on August 21 in Nanterre with organized gang robbery, among other offenses. Investigators also link him to several home invasions and kidnapping plots, some already carried out and others still in the planning stage.

The Real Madrid forward appeared on a list found on phones seized from the suspect's cell, alongside wealthy businesspeople and figures from the rap world.

According to the newspaper, the group is believed to have carried out or prepared operations between April 11 and August 19 in towns such as Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, and Santenay.
The criminal remains in solitary confinement and in pretrial detention. His alleged accomplice was released under judicial supervision, a measure he was challenging this Wednesday before the Versailles investigating chamber.

The investigation must now determine how far each plot had actually progressed and the specific role of each suspect.
