Rubio, Jordanian FM discuss Iran, regional security

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Washington on July 14, where the two discussed regional security and Iran's recent actions, the US State Department said.

According to a statement by State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Rubio and Safadi reviewed a range of bilateral and regional issues, including what Washington described as the Iranian regime's ongoing attacks on shipping and countries across the region.

Rubio condemned the attacks, including what the State Department called Iran's "unacceptable strikes" on Jordanian territory.

The US secretary of state also thanked Safadi for Jordan's role in advancing regional security, highlighting the kingdom's contribution to regional stability, the statement said.
