Pinwheel launches Pinwheel Home to keep kids connected without smartphones
![]() Pinwheel unveiled an updated communication experience for the younger generation: Pinwheel Home – a modern take on the classic home phone that lets kids stay connected without the distractions of a smartphone. The new device is aimed at a smooth transition to more autonomous communication within the family and among friends. The company specializing in children’s tech announced the launch of Pinwheel Home – an easy-to-use device for voice calls, focused on simplicity and safety. Pinwheel positions Pinwheel Home as an introductory step for children aged 5 to 10 before transitioning to a full smartphone. The company already offers children’s smartphones and recently launched a children’s smartwatch. Features and Safety Parents control the device through the Pinwheel Guardian Portal: approving contacts, blocking unknown numbers, spam and robocalls, setting call schedules and time limits. Also available are speed dial and voicemail; future updates promise three-way calls and integration with watches and smartphones, so you can use a single number across multiple devices with usage-time controls. Two models are available. Spark starts at $68 and is available in white, black, blue and purple. Classic is priced at $79 and includes a retro headset with the option to personalize with stickers; color options are pink, black, and white. Calls between Pinwheel Home devices are free under the Pinwheel Circle service. Subscriptions for calling standard numbers start at $6.99 per month for five approved contacts or $9.99 per month for unlimited calls. For comparison, calls between Tin Can devices are also free, and the “Friends & Family” plan costs $9.99 per month. Pinwheel Home is already available on the company’s official website and is expected to arrive on Amazon this fall. It is also worth noting that the device provides a convenient way to keep children connected to loved ones in a safe, parent-controlled environment. ![]() |
