![]() Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland and the Netherlands have decided to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest due to Israel's participation in it. This was reported on May 11 by France 24 TV channel. "The public broadcasters of Spain, Ireland and Slovenia announced on Monday that they will not broadcast the 70th Eurovision Song Contest this week, as they are boycotting this television show due to Israel's participation in it," the material says. The director of the competition, Martin Green, in turn, noted that he intends to make every effort to return these states. The Eurovision Song Contest in 2026 will be held from May 12 to May 16 in Vienna. On January 31, a protest rally was held in Riga against Latvia's participation in Eurovision because of Israel. About 20 people took part in the rally, protesting against the Israeli attacks on Palestine, which, according to them, the Latvian media are silent about. It was reported that the rally was peaceful and without arrests. |
