Zelensky: Ukraine imposes sanctions against Lukashenko

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has introduced a package of sanctions against Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. According to him, Lukashenko has long been trading Belarus’s sovereignty for the continuation of his personal power, as well as aiding the circumvention of global restrictions and actively justifying the war against Ukraine. He stated this on Telegram.

According to the president, the sanctions package against Lukashenko will become part of a broader strategy of pressure and will intensify the response to any forms of his involvement in the killings of Ukrainians, working together with international partners to achieve a global impact“Today Ukraine has imposed sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko, and we will significantly intensify our counteraction to all forms of his involvement in the killings of Ukrainians. We will work with partners so that this has a global effect”․

According to him, in the second half of 2025, on Belarusian territory, Russians deployed a system of retransmitters to control strike drones, boosting the Russian army’s ability to strike Ukrainian northern regions – from Kyiv Oblast to Volyn Oblast.

Zelensky underscored that part of the strikes, including against energy facilities and the railway, could not have been carried out without such Belarusian assistance.

Moreover, according to the president, more than 3,000 Belarusian enterprises are currently effectively supporting the Russian war, supplying critically important equipment, machinery, and components, including for the production of missiles that strike Ukrainian towns and cities.

Ukraine continues coordinating with partners and taking active steps in response to strengthen the sanctions’ impact and respond to the ongoing aggression.
