Kazakhstan’s Tokayev accepted invitation to join Trump’s Board of Peace

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been invited to join the Board of Peace proposed by US President Donald Trump and Tokayev has agreed, the Tengri news outlet quotes the Kazakh president’s press secretary as saying.

“The head of state sent a letter to the President of the United States expressing sincere gratitude and confirming his agreement to join this new association,” Mr Zheldibay said.

The Board of Peace, which Trump will chair, will largely be made up of heads of state from around the world. Leaders from a range of countries in the Middle East and across the world have been invited.

A draft charter sent to about 60 countries by the U.S. administration calls for members to contribute $1 billion in cash if they want their membership to last more than three years, according to the document seen by Reuters.
