Iran's ambassador to Australia to be expelled, Australian embassy in Tehran to be closed

Iran's ambassador to Australia, Ahmed Sadeghi, will be expelled from the country, and the Australian embassy in Tehran will cease its activities, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced.

According to him, this decision was made after receiving "credible intelligence" about the involvement of the Iranian government in the attacks on the Melbourne synagogue and the Israeli restaurant in Sydney.

"Australia's security intelligence organization is considering the possibility that Iran also carried out other attacks. These were unprecedented and dangerous acts of aggression, organized by a foreign state on Australian territory," the head of government emphasized.

At the same time, the country's Home Affairs Minister Claire Burke announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran's Guardian Corps (IRGC) will be added to the list of terrorist organizations.
