US ambassador to Paris summoned to Foreign Ministry after criticizing Macron

The US ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner, was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry on Monday after he wrote a letter to President Macron criticising the French government for failing to do enough to combat the rise in anti-Semitism. The French Foreign Ministry said the ambassador's comments were unacceptable.
Charles Kushner, whose son Jared is married to US President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka, wrote an open letter to President Macron expressing concern about the rise in anti-Semitism in France and "the government's lack of action to combat it." Kushner said anti-Semitism in France has been on the rise since the Gaza war.
In a letter published in the Wall Street Journal, the ambassador called on President Macron to tone down his criticism of Israel and cite examples of anti-Semitism that he said had "long marred French life." The diplomat claims that not a day goes by in France without persecution against Jews.
