More than 60 people injured in protests in Serbia

More than 60 people were injured in the unrest in Novi Sad, Serbia, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, the Kurir newspaper reported.

According to the president, about 1,695 people took part in the protest in Novi Sad, while more than 3,000 people took part in the protests in and around Belgrade. Clashes between citizens and police were reported in several places, as well as property damage. According to Vucic, the victims include two seriously injured police officers and five members of the Serbian Cobra special forces unit, who were attacked with sticks and stones. Various objects and weapons were used during the protests.

Vucic assured that all those involved in the attacks will be detained.

Protests in Serbia have been ongoing since November 2024. The cause was the collapse of a concrete slab at the Novi Sad railway station, which killed 16 people. The protesters are demanding the resignation of the current government.
