"The humanitarian situation has not improved" - Palestinian Authority
![]() The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has not improved. This was reported by the Palestinian authorities. The aid received is still not enough for 2.4 million residents, Ismail al-Sawabita, director of the government information service in the Gaza Strip, told RIA Novosti. On July 26, Israel allowed foreign countries to resume air deliveries of aid. Trucks with humanitarian aid from Egypt have also been sent to Gaza. “The situation has not improved, but, on the contrary, has deteriorated significantly after the announcement of “humanitarian concessions”. The Gaza Strip has actually entered the third stage of famine. According to the classification of the World Food Program, this means the beginning of a large-scale famine,” the agency’s interlocutor said. According to him, 85% of the population lives in conditions of food insecurity. The official explained that 1.1 million of the 2.4 million people are minors, 40,000 of whom are under the age of one. He said 154 Palestinians have already died from malnutrition, including 89 children. “There is a shortage of medicine, the water is contaminated, and the health system is practically destroyed,” al-Sawabita said. |
